Walney speeding Survey

In December, I received a flurry of emails from concerned residents on Walney about speeding on certain roads. Following this, I raised these concerns with Cumbria police and the Highways Team at Westmorland and Furness Council.

On Tuesday 13 February, I hosted a public meeting at The Alfred about this issue, joined by Walney Councillors, the neighbourhood policing team, roads policing unit, Deputy Police and Crime Commissioner Mike Johnson, and the traffic management unit at Westmorland & Furness Council.

Whether at Biggar, on Ocean Road, or heading over to North Scale, there are plenty of concerns that speed limits are being broken, and that some of those set are not appropriate.

So it was good to have an airing of views, and to hear from local representatives about what steps we can take together to make these roads safer.

I want to hear your views on this.

I’m very aware that even with such a good turnout not everyone who is concerned about speeding on Walney would have their views represented.

Going forward, I am asking residents who were at the meeting, and those who could not attend to fill in my survey below and let me know their thoughts on three key issues.

I will then feed this information back to Mo and Jack at the Council and the Police respectively to ensure what was discussed at the meeting is acted upon and that speeding will improve on Walney Island.

Please take my short survey below to let me know.
